The YES Academy Youth Orchestra In Lebanon

Steven Stark is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, composer, and teacher based in Oklahoma City. 

As a session musician he has recorded with dozens of artists including Green River Ordinance, Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne, Steve Burns, David Hodges, Ben Rector,  Graham Colton, Emily Hearn, and Layup. He has also performed at over 200 weddings and events (more info here).

As a composer he has received commissions and performances from professional and educational organizations around the world. His most recent commissions include “I Got Haydn!”, premiered at the 2022 Oklahoma Haydn Festival (where the audience demanded an encore performance!) and “Electric Evening”, premiered by the combined Putnam City High School Orchestras in London. He also scored the nature documentary "Where Did The Horny Toad Go?" which was featured at the deadCENTER Film Festival in Oklahoma City and the Arizona International Film Festival. As an arranger, Steven has recently created string parts for the live shows of Graham Colton and Samantha Crain.

Steven has released several records and in 2023 he put out his most ambitious record yet, a one-act concept album (From Red Dirt To Red Planet) which features collaborations with many notable Oklahoma artists including Beau Jennings, Shawn Jones (Lovely Sparrows), Johnny Manchild, Victoria Liedtke, Nathan Siler (Portraiture), and Steven Drozd (The Flaming Lips). He also releases music under the band name Noonish Moon.

Steven is the cello sectional coach for Edmond North High School and the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra Summer Camp. He has also recently taught courses in composition, guitar, string playing, and songwriting in Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, and Uganda through American Voices. He is the co-host and head mentor of the International Composers Forum, a program offering learning and performance opportunities to composers in Africa and the Middle East.

Steven is a frequent orchestra clinician and guest conductor around the world, often leading ensembles in rehearsals and performances of his works. In 2023 he conducted the YES Academy Youth Orchestra in Lebanon, and the All-City 8th Grade Orchestra in Edmond, OK.


Steven has a degree in music composition from Oklahoma City University.
